SITA UK working with C2K to broaden knowledge of environmental issues
Recycling and waste management company, SITA UK, has made available its environmental educational material to all schools in Northern Ireland via the C2K network.
SITA UK's education pack aims to promote a new set of 3 R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle! Produced by education professionals, the pack, which is available free of charge, contains a teacher's guide, an informative poster and activity sheets in line with Key Stages 2 and 3 of the National Curriculum.
Per-Anders Hjort, SITA UK's Chief Executive Officer, said: "Environmental issues are now firmly on the agenda. The aim of this pack is to build on this interest and encourage a sense of responsibility for the environment among young people. Recycling and waste management provides an excellent hands-on introduction as everyone can do their bit to make a difference. We also hope to encourage greater understanding that waste management and resource efficiency will play an increasingly important role for the economy."
The pack highlights the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling products and materials, and encourages a change in attitude and responsibility towards the earth and its resources. It asks pupils to consider how the earth sustains humans, and identify the steps we can all take to play a part in sustainability, the 3R’s and sorting recyclables at source.
Mr Hjort added: "We are keen to put something positive back into the communities we serve. We have now been operating in Northern Ireland for over 10 years and we are committed to growing a sustainable business here in the long term."
