SITA Trust is an ethical funding organisation dedicated to making lasting improvements to the natural environment and community life.
A not-for-profit company, the Trust is a registered and accredited environmental body that operates under the Landfill Communities Fund, distributing money donated by SITA UK.
Between 1997 - when SITA Trust began its funding programmes - and the end of 2012, SITA Trust supported more than 3,200 projects to a combined value of more than £92 million. It continues to provide funding around the UK thanks to SITA UK’s financial support.
SITA Trust currently runs the following funding programmes:
- Enhancing Communities - for community improvement projects within three miles of 115 qualifying sites owned by SITA UK. There are 'Qualifying Zones' in England, Scotland and Wales.
- Enriching Nature - an England-wide programme that supports biodiversity conservation projects.
Applicants are able to check whether their project is eligible for funding and make an application through the Trust’s website. The site includes online application forms and downloadable application guides. A handy postcode checker enables applicants to see if their project site falls within one of the Qualifying Zones for Enhancing Communities funding.
