We want SUEZ recycling and recovery UK to be a company that gives something back to the communities it serves. Our relationship with Macmillan Cancer Support has not only enabled us to do this, but, just as importantly, we have engaged and connected with our employees in a way that we never have before.
Every year, employees stage a variety of fundraising events — including coffee mornings, cake sales, barbecues, raffles and much more.
As well as hosting regular events throughout the year, we run a ‘Big Event’ every two years, involving all sites and staff across the company. In 2014, this was a six-week and 2,400 mile cycle relay from Scotland to Cornwall.
In 2016, we hosted the Rio Roadshow. SUEZ staff ran, rowed and cycled the 5,761 miles it would take to get from the UK to Rio de Janeiro, where the 2016 Olympics were held. A special “carnival bus”, decked out with exercise equipment, travelled to 130 of our locations over a five-week period in a continuous “roadshow” – starting in Inverness, Scotland, and finishing in St Erth, Cornwall.
