1,020 kgs recycled at LG Group Annual Conference
Leading recycling and resource management company, SITA UK, helped delegates make a significant carbon saving by recycling throughout this year’s LG Group Annual Conference.
During the three day conference, held from 6-8 July 2010 in Bournemouth, dedicated crews from SITA UK helped LG Group Annual Conference delegates recycle as much as possible through numerous recycling points.
Plastic, paper and cans were collected from separate special recycling bins that were provided at approximately 16 recycling points round the conference at the Bournemouth International Centre. At the end of the conference, the paper, cans and plastic were taken to a materials recycling facility where they were baled up and sent for reprocessing.
In total, 750 kgs of paper and card, 200 kgs of plastic and 75 kgs of cans were collected and will be reprocessed. This is a carbon saving equivalent to 286.67 KW of energy being saved, 16 trees being saved or 12 cubic metres of waste being diverted from landfill.
David Palmer-Jones, CEO of SITA UK says: "We are delighted to have been the recycling partner at this year’s conference. Conferences can be wasteful in terms of the amount of paper and other materials used and therefore it is important to recycle as much as possible.
"The conference also provided an opportunity for local government representatives to engage on recycling and waste issues as the Government defines its waste strategy."
