Acquisiton moves SITA UK into South Wales
Recycling and waste management company, SITA UK, has acquired Resources Management UK Ltd (RML), a waste management company based in Pembrokeshire, South Wales.
The acquisition is an important step forward for SITA UK enabling it to develop its business in South Wales, a new area for the company. RML operates a landfill and materials recycling facility (MRF) near Rudbaxton in Pembrokeshire and has contracts with local authorities including Pembrokeshire County Council.
Geraint Rees, General Manager at SITA UK, said: "The acquisition brings a range of new clients to our fold, provides good facilities and importantly gives us employees with the local knowledge and expertise to build our business in the area."
"We believe that there will be many opportunities in the area to secure future growth, with a recently constructed MRF and the security of a large landfill void", he added.
Speaking about the sale of the company, John Starmer, previous Managing Director of RML said: "The sale of RML to SITA UK is a positive move for both our employees and customers. The transition of ownership will be as seamless as possible for all concerned and will enable the business to continue to develop."
SITA UK is one of the country’s leading recycling and waste companies offering integrated solutions to recycling and waste management in both the local authority and commercial sectors. The purchase of RML follows other acquisitions made by SITA UK this year including metal recycling company, Easco, and Northern Ireland recycling and waste management company, Wilson Waste. SITA UK recently won the Best Private Sector Consortium award at the Public Private Finance Awards 2007 for its approach to securing the Cornwall waste PFI contract.
