Ranked 22nd overall for all UK big companies in research carried out by Best Companies for the Sunday Times, SUEZ recycling and recovery UK achieved its top three scores for:

  • Wellbeing: 15th
  • Giving Something Back: 19th

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK is pleased to receive the recognition from the Sunday Times, a trusted independent publishing group, for the values it aspires to within the recycling and resource management industry for its staff, customers and suppliers.

The Sunday Times highlighted the direct staff engagement David Palmer-Jones, Chief Executive Officer, and Kevin Sproul, HR Director, have with staff at all levels of the business. Together they hold regular events for manual operatives throughout the company to voice any concerns or issues they may have. A wellbeing group also meets bi-monthly to discuss initiatives to encourage the health and wellness of SUEZ’s employees. The Sunday Times concluded: “Almost half of the workforce have been here for more than five years. Staff agree that the company genuinely cares about the environment (73% positive: fifth place on our list).”

David Palmer-Jones, Chief Executive Officer of SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, said: “We are delighted to receive an accolade from The Sunday Times as our ability to innovate with our services always depends on how much our staff enjoy coming to work, feeling valued and believing in what we are all trying to achieve. I look forward to seeing how we can constantly improve, for our staff, for our customers and for the environment whose precious resources we are all trying to manage wisely.”

The Sunday Times also noted that SUEZ recycling and recovery UK places a strong emphasis on staff volunteering for charitable causes during work, with 71% of staff surveyed stating that voluntary work is encouraged by SUEZ. In 2017, SUEZ recycling and recovery UK raised ₤52,904 for Macmillan Cancer Support as well as helping to bring attention to a local Women’s Institute Remembrance Sunday tribute in Leatherhead, Surrey, by providing, cleaning and cutting more than 1,000 plastic bottles which were used to make poppies as part of the Reuse, Recycle, Remember creative project.
