SITA UK is a major supporter of community life and wildlife projects across the country, through its support of SITA Trust.
SITA Trust allocates funding through the Landfill Communities Fund (formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme). Since 1997 the Trust has distributed almost £60M to hundreds of projects across the UK.
SITA Trust runs three funding programmes:
- Enhancing Communities - for community improvement projects around landfill sites owned by SITA UK
- Enriching Nature - for biodiversity projects within the vicinity of landfill sites in England
- GreenPrints - launched in June 2007 to encourage 16-25 year olds to volunteer their time and energy to improving green spaces in their local communities
SITA Trust works hard to make sure the application process is as straightforward as possible and regularly reviews its funding strategy. SITA Trust has also recently become the first Environmental Body within the scheme to be awarded EB accreditation allowing it to register projects with ENTRUST directly.
Each year, SITA Trust commits over £7 million nationwide through the Landfill Communities Fund.
