SITA UK is one of the largest metals recyclers in the UK. We process and trade approximately 500,000 tonnes of material each year.

We accept scrap metal at our metal recycling facilities. Operating from 11 sites strategically located across the UK, we offer an extensive range of both ferrous and non-ferrous grades to consumers within the UK, Europe and around the world.

We have built our reputation on our commitment to deliver high quality product in the correct quantity, on time.

We have an extensive network for sourcing new materials, which means companies can rely on us to supply the grades they need. Our stock management system enables us to get the product needed quickly.

From our dock and export facilities in the UK, we supply non-ferrous grades to steelworks, smelters, foundries and refiners throughout the world. Our in-house shipping and trading team work closely together to ensure we can deliver our products direct to end-users.

We also have strong links with international shipping lines, which means we can provide levels of service that our customers expect.

Metals are processed by fragmentation, shearing and baling and all recycled metal that we produce conforms to the internationally recognised Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) specification.

Smart working

SITA UK is one of the first recyclers in the country to start checking the metal it collects for Smartwater.

Smartwater is a forensic liquid which marks each metal with a unique signature registered to its owner, which can be checked under a UV light.

Metals brought onto SITA UK sites, whether from the general public or scrap metal dealers, are checked under a UV light for traces of Smartwater before being processed. If in any doubt, SITA UK reserves the right to refuse to handle the metals and where necessary will inform the appropriate authorities.
