SITA UK has been serving people in London for more than twenty years. We run recycling and waste management treatment facilities in the capital and we collect recycling and waste from households and businesses across the city . We also keep some of London's most prestigious and busy streets clean.

We already have waste treatment facilities and collect household recycling and waste in South and West London and we would like to bring our services to serve the people of North London by managing the waste that is collected there.
We will be bidding for the upcoming North London Waste Authority contract, building on our recent experience of operating the successful LondonWaste EcoPark in the London Borough of Enfield for the past sixteen years.
What's new for SITA UK in London?
SITA UK is currently working all across London on a variety of projects to deliver innovative and high-quality solutions for recycling and waste management.
We are planning to develop an eco-park at our site in Mitcham, South London, which will include an anaerobic digestion and materials recycling facility.
We are partnering on an innovative project to develop a gasification facility in East London and will provide more information as we develop this new facility.
We opened a new metals recycling facility in Hayes, Middlesex in February 2010.
We are trialling the use of landfill gas to power a waste collection vehicle in Kensington and Chelsea, where we also collect household waste and clean up after the Notting Hill Carnival.

December 2009 - SITA UK was delighted to sponsor Letsrecycle.com's London conference. This conference heard from a range of speakers and explored some of the unique challenges that London will face as recycling and recovery replace traditional forms of waste management in the capital. The conference is held annually - look out for the next one, which will be held towards the end of 2010.
February 2010 - SITA Trust held an event at the Palace of Westminster to coincide with the production of its latest Annual Report and to celebrate more than £6.85 million of investments in community and environmental projects in 2009.
Spring 2010 - SITA UK is proud to sponsor NLA (New London Architecture) and will be holding a series of events this year. The first - ‘Where there’s muck, there’s value: The opportunities of London’s waste and recycling’ - was held on Thursday 15 April 2010.
'No more waste' challenge for schools in London
SITA UK is running an innovative education programme in London, which encourages children to manage their waste responsibly, looks at the waste hierarchy and also invites them to consider the planning, financial and environmental issues that need to be addressed when new waste management facilities are developed.
In December 2009, we held a Challenge day for 90 students in the London Borough of Enfield and we are going to hold events in six further boroughs in the coming months, with the next Challenge day in Camden in June.
As part of the day in December, students were asked to design a poster that could be used in the borough to encourage residents to reduce, reuse and recycle. The winning poster is now being displayed by Enfield Council’s waste management team on waste collection vehicles and advertising boards across the borough.
