SITA Trust is a not-for-profit company, a registered and accredited environmental body that operates under the Landfill Communities Fund distributing funds donated by SITA UK.

SITA Trust is an ethical funding organisation dedicated to making lasting improvements to the natural environment and community life. The Trust is a not-for-profit company, a registered and accredited environmental body that operates under the Landfill Communities Fund distributing funds donated by SITA UK.

Between 1997 - when SITA Trust began its funding programmes - and the end of 2010, SITA Trust supported more than 2,800 projects to a combined value of more than £76m. It continues to provide funding around the UK thanks to the financial support offered by SITA UK.

SITA Trust was the first Environmental Body to become accredited by the Landfill Communities Fund regulator, ENTRUST, and are proud to be continue to hold this status. As SITA Trust is accredited, it can deal with applicants directly and registers projects with the regulator on their behalf, saving applicants time and money.

SITA Trust currently runs the following funding programmes:

  • Enhancing Communities - For community improvement projects within three miles of 90 qualifying waste processing sites owned by SITA UK. There are 'Qualifying Zones' in England, Scotland and Wales.
  • Enriching Nature - An England wide programme that supports biodiversity conservation projects.
  • Young Person's Volunteering Fund - A programme encouraging 14 to 25 year olds to increase the quality of green spaces and improve community amenities where they live. Funding is available throughout England and Wales.
  • QEII Fields Fund - A £1 million fund for community improvements to designated QEII fields in England and Wales.

Applicants are able to check if their project is eligible for funding and make an application through the Trust’s website. The site includes online application forms and downloadable application guides. A handy postcode checker offers applicants the opportunity to see if their project site falls with one of the Qualifying Zones for Enhancing Communities funding.
