SITA Trust
SITA Trust is an ethical funding organisation dedicated to making lasting improvements to the natural environment and community life. The Trust is a not-for-profit company, a registered and accredited environmental body that operates under the Landfill Communities Fund distributing funds donated by SITA UK.
Since 1997, when SITA Trust began its funding programmes, the Trust has supported more than 2,000 projects to a combined value of more than £72m.
The Trust supports community improvement projects in 90 funding zones around qualifying waste processing sites owned by SITA UK. The Trust also supports nature and youth volunteering projects throughout England.
SITA Trust was the first Environmental Body to become accredited by the Landfill Communities Fund regulator, ENTRUST, and are proud to be one of very few Environmental Bodies to have achieved this status.
SITA Trust currently runs three funding programmes:
- Enhancing Communities - For community improvement projects within three miles of qualifying waste processing sites owned by SITA UK.
- Enriching Nature - For biodiversity conservation projects within ten miles of any landfill site in England.
- GreenPrints - A joint funded youth volunteering programme encouraging 16 to 25 year olds to improve and increase the green spaces where they live.
Applicants are able to check if their project is eligible for funding, and apply for Enhancing Communities funding through the Trust’s website. The site includes online application forms and downloadable application guides.
